Co-Founder and VP of Development and Professional Services.  Part-time till 2004 when moved to full-time with Compliancy.  Responsible for leading the development and professional services teams from the initial design through implementation of the innovative and easier to use Compliancy Software solution for automating business processes for risk management and compliance regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley.  Introduced a unique and differentiated solution in 2005 that is now a proven product with high customer satisfication supported by outstanding professional services with repeat business contracts. 

 

Developer of several key systems in Ultimus, VB.Net, C++, C#, SQL Server, and ASP.NET as well as all the company’s IT infrastructure. Part-time.  Led the development to provide an ASP based software solution for managing vertical partner relationships and solutions and as a system integrator providing professional services for Ultimus customers.  In 2003 decided to refocus the company on the horizontal and more lucrative compliance Sarbanes-Oxley market and renamed the company to Compliancy Software.

 

GlaxoSmithKlien. 1/2004 –  10/2004

Responsible for day to day system monitoring of key IT systems running on Windows NT, 2K, 2K3, Linux, and Solaris.  Responsible for troubleshooting and investigation of systems issues working with internal developers and data center personell throughout the world and for both hardware and software inventory audits.

Data Center and Operations Manager, Springboard Managed Hosting.  3/2002 – 8/2003

Responsible for 24/7 operations of Datacenter, including 2 OC/3 WAN connections and creating and implementing all policies and procedures to efficiently run operations, and integrating new applications and processes.  Responsible for Customer Service including assigning, prioritizing, and resolving customer issues. 

 

Managed the creation and integration of the security, IDS, systems monitoring and help desk systems from open source components.

 

Director Professional Services. YellowBrick Solutions, Inc. 1/2001 – 1/2002.

Responsible for providing professional services to customers for installing, configuring and customizing the YellowBrick Visitant VEM marketing automation software for large scale marketing campaigns including integration with various webservers (open source Apache and Microsoft IIS) and database system (Oracle and MSSQL).

 

In addition, responsible as the acting MIS manager for desktop, server and network support and administration duties on Red Hat Linux, Windows and Solaris and in internal development for the performance testing initiative, including recompiling Apache for higher performance.

 

Manager of Operations. The Foveon Corporation. 11/99 – 1/2001.

Responsible for the management of  9 person operations and network teams.  Led the design and implementation of a 12 million dollar, 24/7 data center and network operations for this startup internet marketing company.  Created the entire operations department from ground zero including strategic direction, budgets, resources, policies and procedures making extensive use of  Open Source applications. 

 

Day to day operations management included over 30 severs, including an IBM 390, 2 Sun E6500s, 15+ terabytes of  online Oracle and DB2 databases, the entire facilities maintenance and internal and remote desktop support.

 

Sr. System Administrator. Railinc, Inc. 3/99 – 11/99.

Responsible for 24/7 operation of an enterprise wide EDI Electronic commerce site (www.railnetredi.com) that provides real-time data from IBM mainframe to the Railroad industry via the web using Sun workstations, Oracle database, and Java and Netscape webservers.

 

Day to day responsibilities included system and network administration, trouble shooting issues, maintenance of the high availability web, application, and database servers and lead liaison for outsource providers (GEIS) and equipment colocated offsite.

 

Manager of Operations. Nortel Networks. 8/96 – 3/99.

Responsible for the management and hiring of 7 system administrators, 3 network engineers, and 2 MIS employees responsible for customer service and the day to day operations of  Linux servers and Network equipment providing 24/7 Internet access to 40,000+ users of the private Frame Relay network and multi-home access to the public Internet. Raised the customer satisfaction from the low 60's to the upper 80s and also increased system availability to a sustained 99.95%.

 

Prior to manager of operations, acted as technical lead on a internal firewall project responsible for analysis, design, and implementation of a protected mode port of existing real mode code for the Nortel firewall using MSVC 2.0 and Pharlap’s TNT DOS extender and as the primary contact for resolving customer problems with the Nortel firewall.

 

Led the analysis and design of a Linux based client/server messaging system for TV based web browsers and implemented the first phase using Linux and gcc.

 

Led the analysis, design, and implementation of the “On Call Person” for daily system administration of Nortel’s system and network equipment and commened by customers for quality of customer service.

 

 

DBBasics, Inc. on contract to Bell & Howell. 5/96 - 8/96

Technical lead for SCO UNIX, C++, Oracle development project responsible for design and implementation of the communications subsystem, several sub components including time critical data transfer.

 

The Registry, on contract to KMERL Panasonic Research, Inc. 6/95- 5/96

Lead analyst for the design and implementation of a cross platform Client/Server message passing system for pick and place equipment implemented on Sun Sparcs with TCP/IP, using C++ and ported to OS/2 and Windows NT. Used Zapp to port several UI components between platforms and implemented a cross platform socket class to aid in the porting of communications programs which uploaded and configured machine lines from SunOs to OS/2 and Windows NT.

 

The Registry, on contract to Duke University Medical Center, Department of Pathology. 3/95 - 5/95.

Responsible for developing database application for various department customers on VAX VMS and PC systems. Wrote custom reports in CCL (Cerner Command Language) and DCL and provided technical support and end user training to a variety of internal customers.

 

Software Engineer III, Wandel and Goltermann Technologies, Inc. 7/93- 1/95

Led the embedded system top-level design of 100meg VGAnyLan and 100base-T network analyzers including investigating primary RTOS’s for 386 EX processor and work wih Integrated Systems pSOS+.

 

Led the design and implementation of the DS3ATM user interface for the DA-30 for Windows Asynchronous Transfer Mode network analyzer product.

 

Led the release management of the ATM project including customer contact with several alpha and beta test sites responsible for customer interaction and support. Responsible for initial Windows prototype and for creating marketing demos of the product. Trouble shooter for UI and integration problems, including some problems with real-time embedded code.

 

Systems Analyst, Martin Marietta Energy Systems. 12/90 - 7/93.

Responsible for design and implementation of major portions of a Corporate Information Center GUI Project at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory that provides a common, user friendly front end while providing a portable SQL back end to various DBMS's developed in Microsoft C,C++, MFC and VAX C.

 

Completed projects included prototyping both the PC and VAX portions of the interface, task leader for integrating communications sub-system into the interface, and coordinating efforts with the sub-contractor whom developed the communications package.

 

Led the design of the Corporate Information Center TCP/IP server for open system computing prototyping and installing and configuring team's PCs with OS/2, LAN Requester, and TCP/IP, and software licensing compliance and audits for work group.
